Testing and certification

To ensure the quality of units refurbished at Classic Audio, they are thoroughly tested, both during and after refurbishment, before delivery. All functions are checked and errors are sorted out.

Once the unit is fully refurbished, it is subjected to long-term testing to detect latent faults. Most faults occur within a few hours but the tests are much longer than that. A receiver, such as a Beomaster 4400, undergoes a programmed 500-hour or approximately three-week test. During these weeks, the Beomaster is switched on and off several times a day and the various inputs and outputs and settings are checked. After 500 hours, Classic Audio considers that the unit is of the right quality and it is time for certification

Depending on the type of device to be certified, different methods are used. Loudspeakers are of course not tested in the same way as a turntable or an amplifier. The factory's originally stated values are compared with the now measured values and presented in documents that of course accompany the device and almost always the result is better than the factory's stated values. The documents form the basis of the warranty that Classic Audio gives on the work and the material and are also saved, so these can be reproduced again. The warranty provided is personal to the buyer and is not transferable.

The process described here is carried out on all refurbished devices, whether it is a returned device or one purchased from Classic Audio, whether it is a turntable, an amplifier, a pair of speakers or something else.

The intention is for the buyer to be confident in their purchase and to be able to read in a document the performance of their particular device.
The process is constantly evolving to improve accuracy and simplify presentation.
